The left boxplot denotes the two 3-vertex motifs found in the network on the x-axis and the distribution of the pairwise disconnectivity index of their instances on the y-axis. The right boxplot constitutes this for patterns that are not over-represented in E. coli. The dotted line indicates the average pairwise disconnectivity index of all pattern instances in the network (0.0046). Note that one point may stand for several pattern instances.
