Example 6 – Comparison of PMFA and Monte Carlo methods. We use the simple model described in Figure (3) assuming that v2, v3, v4 and v5 have been measured. (1) PMFA: the measurements represented in possibilistic terms using linear terms are depicted in grey, and the possibility distributions calculated from them in blue (thin lines for marginal distributions and thick lines for conditional ones). (2) Monte Carlo approach: the measurements represented assuming that errors are normally distributed are depicted in grey and the histograms are those resulting from the Monte Carlo simulations.
