  1. Parameter values for the competitive model were obtained by fitting Eqn. (6) to the GFP expression data (Figure 2), for a bulk culture of Vibrio fischeri strain JB10 at density OD = 0.05-0.15 cm-1. The first row contains parameters obtained by fitting the GFP fluorescence data (F) with the four-parameter model described in the text. The second row contains parameters obtained by fitting the fluorescence data under the constraint that m = n. The third row contains fit parameters obtained when the four-parameter model is fit to the luminescence data (actually L1/2) rather than to the fluorescence F. (See Eqn. (1)).
