The blue line indicates RNA polymerase that is held inactive by cycC/Cdk8; red line indicates RNA polymerase that is detached from DNA; green line indicates RNA polymerase that is actively transcribing DNA. In order to accomplish the initial cell division in a reasonable time, a large number of RNA polymerase is held inactive during G0.
