Drift of transcription-factor codon matrices reveals diverse codon usage relative to the control matrix. The genetic interaction targets for sixteen S. cerevisiae transcription factors were identified using the Saccharomyces Genome Database (http://yeastgenome.org). Using those corresponding gene target sequences, codon usage matrices were constructed for each transcription factor. Frobenius matrix norms were calculated for all matrix pairs, including the control matrix (Figure 1b) using MATLAB. The Frobenius norms represent drift between matrices and darker colored cells represent higher drift. A value of zero means the matrices are identical.
