Effect of RAS2, and BCY1 deletions on HSE-dependent gene expression. Strains were transformed with plasmid pRY016 (2 μ) containing an HSE-CYC1-lacZ reporter gene. Growth and temperature treatments were performed as described in Methods section. Data shown represent the average and standard deviation of at least three independent experiments. β-galactosidase specific activities are reported as in Fig. 2. Bars that do not share at least a common letter differ significantly (P < 0.05). Strains assayed were: WT (W303-1a), ras2Δ (Wras2Δ) and bcy1Δ (CM0095)
