Procedure for validating the stochastic QSSA with Eq. 8. Step 1. Perform stochastic simulations with the reduced model. Step 2. From these stochastic simulations, estimate a range of initial conditions for the slow variables. For the fast variables, use all possible states for their range of initial conditions. Step 3. Using these ranges of initial conditions for the slow and fast variables, test the accuracy of deterministic QSSA. If the deterministic QSSA is accurate for all of these initial conditions, the stochastic QSSA is accurate
