  1. Total response coefficients of J 5, J 8 and J 16 towards ASA at the steady-state and the distribution of flux control between the supply and demand blocks according to the principle illustrated in Eq. 6 are presented. Control analysis was performed for the reference model and each of the knockouts with the concentration of the linking metabolite between supply and demand fixed at the steady-state value in each case (see Table S2 in Additional file 6)
