Schematic depiction of the restricted model (leucine pool) [[33]]. This scheme is a subscheme of Figure 7. Circles depict compartments. Arrows depict fluxes between compartments and are labelled with the corresponding fractional transfer coefficients. Compartment 1 is the plasma-leucine compartment where the leucine is injected. Compartment 2 is an intrahepatic compartment which is the source for apoB synthesis. Compartments 3 and 4 are body protein pools. The output is at compartment 1. Compartment 11 is a delay compartment used only as output from compartment 2.
