glnA promoter is sharply activated in the last generation of growth. (a) Promoter activity of glnA as a function of time at several levels of initial nitrogen with a time resolution of 8 min. Promoter activity was calculated by computing the rate of accumulation of GFP per unit time divided by the OD (dGFP/dt/OD).
