  1. The ABA model is shown in Figure 5. The states labeled as critical in bold, italic text are those where deregulation of CaIM will lead to the deregulation of Ca2+ c in the following time step (when updating synchronously). KOUT has one state during these critical time steps, and the other state in all other cases, indicating that it can compensate for the loss of CaIM through the rule modification to Ca2+ c shown in Table 3, without deregulating Ca2+ c in other time steps.
