Inferring the level of regulation of TFs from Reporter analysis. The activity of a TF/regulator cannot be usually inferred directly from the change in gene expression, since many of these regulators are regulated post-transcriptionally. The level of regulation of a TF/regulator can be inferred based on the combined analysis of its differential gene expression and its score as a Reporter TF. Analysis of Δgrr1, Δhxk2, Δmig1, Δmig1Δmig2 and Δrgt1 data at two different thresholds of significance (p-value < 0.01 and p-value < 0.05) consistently shows that only few TFs are mainly transcriptional regulated (case I), while most are post-transcriptionally regulated (cases II and III).
